Scotch and Sunshine

I went to see three of my friends today in the city where we used to go to college together. Around this time in 2005 we met each other for the first time when we all started to study journalism. There's usually five of us, Kevin, Alexander, Stefan, Malcolm and me. But Malcolm is staying in Scotland for three months with some family he has over there. Stefan is the only one who is still in college, he will start the third year next week. So we sat in the café where we usually meet up and mostly talked about films and videogames, as usual. Kevin and Alex recently started to play World of Warcraft together so they were having a lot of strategic talks about defeating the alliance. Stefan came in a bit later but luckily managed to turn the conversation. He doesn't play videogames but is a complete music freak, so we at least had something else to talk about as well. Then there was a bit of a disturbing surprise. We completely forgot that it's the last week of the summer holidays, and that means it's 'introduction week' for all the new first year students. Those introduction weeks usually consist of large noisy groups of kids going from bar to bar behaving like retards and getting drunk. Many seem to believe it's an excellent way of getting to know your new classmates better. So we suddenly heard a lof of cheering voices and a bunch of people all in the same t-shirts invaded the café. Immediately the volume of the music got turned up and it was impossible to have a normal conversation. Since the music was not much of our taste either we decided to leave. In the city we browsed through some stores and Stefan and Alex both bought some dvd's before we had a bite at McDonald's. Stefan then went home and with the three of us left we found a quiet terrace and enjoyed another scotch while an evening sun just peeked above the rooftops. Cartoons, television series, and our own writing skills passed the conversation before we headed home again.

Another note from the Baltics

Hello all of my LJ friends :) Me and my lovely girlfriend are still enjoying ourselves in north-east Europe. At the moment we are visiting her father and his family. We arrived yesterday and stayed over for the night. I enjoy the easy going atmosphere here. Ksju's father and his wife live in a large house with two kids, a large dog and a cat that resides in the bathroom. It's a bit of an organised chaos usually where everyone just kind of does what he wants.
This week we went to the cinema twice. First we saw the Simpsons Movie, which was all kinds of brilliant. I wasn't familiar with the Simpsons that long actually. Only a bit ago I started watching the series. I enjoyed the movie a lot. Green Day's appereance certainly added to that. Eventhough it doesn't end well for the Simpsonized Billie, Mike and Tre :D
The second visit we saw Pirates of the Carribean. I was kind of sceptical after the second movie, but this one did not dissapoint me at all. The first is still the best I think, but At World's End certainly had its moments. The first scene where all the people get hanged made me shiver and the appereance of Keith Richards was just brilliant. Mrs. Knightly and Mr. Bloom are still the weakest link of the movie though. It's so stupid to see Elizabeth with sparkling white teeth and a perfect clean skin after two hours of sailing the seven seas.
I guess tonight we are going back to the flat of my mother in law. She is a nice person but a lot more complicated and perfectionistic then 'the dad'. She sometimes gets a little on my nerves when she keeps nagging Ksju about her diet and me about my job and future plans. But well, not every person can be the same. I bet my future kids will also have a lot to complain about me XD. It's still some time to go I reckon till I will have child(ren). But when I see Ksju so cutely chatting with her little brother I kind of look forward to it.
That's it for now then. Take care everyone.

It's been too long..

Really been too long since I was online. It's kind of embarrasing to find yourself being so hooked to the Internet that you can't even do a bloody week without it. I'm now in an Internetclub in Riga and it's extremely warm here. All those computers make a terrible noise and I can just smell the sweat of all the geeks that gather here :p  I was logging in to The Sani seeing so much threads being overloaded with posts that I simply didn't know where to start reading. I was very glad though to see how much of a better the place the forum got though :) A lot of very entertaining topics are going on and we really showed that we're more then a cynical hate group. 'cause we ain't! :p
The travel to Latvia was not something I would put down in my list of favourite things to do. We knew that before we booked this travel but still made ourselves believe that it would be ok. But the truth about 28 hour busrides is that they are only ok when you're not on them. Anyway, we arrived in one piece at about 21.30 Latvian time in the dark and the pouring rain where Ksju's grandmother was waiting for us. After a day and a night on the road we could finally settle down in their cosy living room and eat a good Russian meal. The apartment of Ksju's grandmothers always make me feel I travelled back in time to Soviet Union. It has such typical style of the that west Europeans probably only saw in movies about the cold war. I do feel comfortable there though, it's a kind of humble feeling that makes you apreciate life.
We are here still in Riga till the 11th of August and hopefully will have enough time to hop online now and then. All the computers here have a harddisk full of games and a big ass widescreen, so it's kind of tempting :p If anyone likes to receive a postcard from us, just tell address and we can send it.

(no subject)

Yesterday evening I went to work again after being ill (-ish) for two and a half days. It was good to be back in action but it wasn't yet a very successful evening. In four hours I did not manage to make a single appointment and had no less then twelve cancelations *sigh*. On top of that I got in a little fight with my supervisor (again). I'm getting so frustrated with this guy lately. He is an excellent trainer and knows very well how to make people better, but he is just hopeless in leading a group. I was talking about him with someone else the other day and we agreed that his moodswings are the worst problem. One moment he behaves like a ten year old, playing pranks and joking his way through the evening, the other moment he gets all stressed out over something and lectures people with such disdain that it sickens me. The person I was talking to said that it was because of drug use. but of course we cannot prove that. Usually I got along pretty well with him, but right now I really have a problem taking him serious and function under his supervision.

As some of you know we're having some computer problems at home. This stuff is already going on for months, but usually it sits quiet for a while and then the shit surfaces again. I think some essential files got damaged or infected but we can't figure out how to solve that.
Speaking of virusses, Ksju seemed to have picked up my illness and now she's sneezing and coughing the whole day. Get well soon darling :-*

On the brighter side, the other day I was reading about The Force Unleashed. It's a new multimedia project from Star Wars that will debut in 2008 somewhere. I have most attention for the videogame that will come out in the spring. It will take place in the 19 year period between episode 3 and 4 and evolves around a still nameless character who is the secret apprentice of Darth Vader. In one interview I read that this guy is trained from young age by Vader and his youth was a complete nightmare. Actually, it is exactly how Luke Skywalker would've been brought up if his father had found him. Although it's still long to go I'm pretty excited about this :)

"Greetings and salutations!"

With that flamboyant quote of Ray Thomas from the Seinfelf episode "The Statue" I will pen down my first entry in my brand new livejournal :) But first of all I should actually thank my darling girlfriend for creating me an account XD. I didn't actually expect to ever see the day where this would happen. Her livejournal was always a girl's domain where she could talk about whatever women are occupied with (bags, I guess? cotton balls, Friends, face cream? :p). But the tables have turned, and now I can as well unleash my creativity. Well, what can I write about myself at this moment? It's a bit of a hectic week for me and Ksju. On Monday we will hop in the bus to travel all the way to Latvia, which is about a 28 hour ride. Not something I'm looking forward to that much, but at least we will be better prepared then our first time. I still remember how hungry, bored, tired and dirty we felt. This time we will make sure to take enough food, pillows, clean clothes and whatever will spring to my mind. I was supposed to get to my work this evening but my health isn't still top notch. In the weekends I was suffering from my allergy, plus the heat outside gave me a wack on the head too. I guess by Thursday I will 100% again :). With that I wrap up I guess, my first post in this blog. I hope to make a lot of friends and read a lot of interesting stuff from you guys.

Ciao
